Around the UK with Street Pastors in July

This calendar for July 2016 gives a bird’s eye view of Street Pastors as a national initiative. Particularly in the summer, teams are involved in many aspects of community life, as well as weekly patrols, training days and commissioning services for new recruits.

1              New volunteers commissioned in Inverness. In Wellingborough, street pastors were part of the  carnival parade.

2              Response Pastors training in Chippenham. In Nantwich, street pastors were part of the Midnight Walk.

3              The last day of Henley Regatta, where street pastors from Reading, Wantage & Grove, Newbury  and Wallingford were on patrol.

4              Bury Street Pastors releases some great visual messages on social media.

5              New recruits in Jesmond took part in the Good News training session.

Street Pastors July6              As part of a joint initiative between the local business community, Metropolitan Police Service, British Transport Police and Westminster City Council, Westminster Street Pastors gave an ‘Outstanding Support’ award to Safer West End.

7              Newcastle Street Pastors were on patrol at the Mouth of the Tyne Festival.

8              Northampton Street and School Pastors commissioned new volunteers tonight.

9              Street pastors from all over Scotland were at the T in the Park festival in Perthshire. New street pastors commissioned in Worcester.

11           Nine days after posting a message of thanks from a grateful parent, Belfast Street Pastors’ post has reached 29,000 views.

12           A new team, St Helens Street Pastors, is registered with the Charity Commission.

13           Pub quiz at the White Lion of Mortimer pub in aid of Merton Street Pastors.

14           Ashford Street Pastors recruitment evening.

15           Stornoway Street Pastors served at HebCelt summer festival on the island of Lewis.

16           New street pastors in Sheffield were commissioned this weekend. Welcome!

17           At the Rotary Pedal Car Grand Prix today, Torbay Street Pastors dealt with eight First Aid incidents.

18           The team in Launceston, Cornwall, is holding their AGM tonight.

19           As part of plans to set up Wigan Street Pastors, volunteers and trustees are holding a Q&A information evening for all those interested in bringing the initiative to life.

20           The end of the school year for many students and teachers. Northampton School Pastors supports pupils at Northampton Academy and Weston Favell Academy and will be praying for staff and young people to have a restful holiday.

21           Extra patrols from Whitstable Street Pastors for partygoers at the town’s Oyster Festival.

22           The launch of Basildon Street Pastors. The national Management and Coordinators Conference starts in Cardiff.

23           Second day of the national Management and Coordinators Conference in Cardiff. In Weston Super Mare, street pastors supported a YMCA Summer Starter Fun Day.

24           Southend Street Pastors celebrated their Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. In Lewisham, street pastors manned a stall outside Lewisham Police Station, to raise awareness of the work they do and chat to locals.

25           An evening entitled ‘Helping others’ at the Unicorn Theatre featured the work of Abingdon Street Pastors.

27           Sutton Street Pastors did their first Wednesday night patrol – at a special event for 600 under 18s at Wonderland night club.

28           Street Pastors in Shrewsbury were part of a Community Fair at Shrewsbury Job Centre.

29           New street and prayer pastors commissioned in Dover tonight.

30           Volunteers from local churches in approximately 300 locations in the UK will be helping to make your town or city centre safer tonight.

31           Time’s up for our writing competition! Entries to the “Today’s Good Samaritan” competition, in partnership with the Association of Christian Writers must be in by today.
