Gary Flynn received an award for his work leading and coordinating Richmond Street Pastors at Richmond Council’s Community Awards.
He said: “It is amazing, I am well chuffed with that, I’m just really shocked that somebody voted for me.
“The people we work with are not just the homeless but also it could be your son and daughter coming home from a night out.
“It would be awkward taking the credit myself because there is a massive team – there are prayer pastors and a management committee which points me in the right direction.
“Some of our volunteers are out at three in the morning, some are 70 years old.”
