“Fearless” elderly street pastor receives community award

Sep 19, 2014 | Awards

A street pastor who has served the community of Brixton as a street pastor for 11 years was awarded the ‘Making Lambeth Safer’ community award at a ceremony held last week.

Stories about an elderly woman who fearlessly approaches groups of young men are often told to new Street Pastors recruits. Now Edith Lewis (known as ‘Mother Edith’) has been commended for encouraging young people back onto a safe and crime-free path.

Find out what Edith herself had to say about the award.
