Royal Welsh Show 2018 & Street Pastors Monday July 23rd to Thursday July 26th

Apr 5, 2018 | Events, What's happening?

We have been approached by some of our partner agencies to ask if we can assist and have a street pastor presence in and around the Royal Welsh show. Travel expenses, food and where necessary accommodation is being organised for those who volunteer. Wayne Evans, ATR and coordinator of Ebbw Vale SPI, will be the point of contact and coordinator for these special patrols, bringing together street pastors from across initiatives and offering our caring presence as well as raising the profile of street pastors to those who attend.

The event which is held annually attracts around 250,000 people to town over 4 days, with visitors choosing to stay in the town, enjoying late night entertainment and drinking. Following a tragic accident at the event last year, which resulted in the death of a visitor to the town, the multi-agency Builth Wells Event Safety Group was formed. One of the recommendations of the group has been to utilise the fantastic service of the Street Pastors in order to improve welfare and safety in the town, and to mitigate the risk, particularly to young people.

This years event will be taking place on Monday July 23rd to Thursday July 26th. Typically visitors arrive in the town from Saturday 21st onwards.

Any help/advice that you can give would be appreciated.
