Work of Street Pastors recognised in Cork, Ireland

May 14, 2018 | Awards, Press releases

Lk.11:33. No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on it’s stand, so that those who come in may see the light.

We were very pleasantly surprised to hear from City Council that Cork Street Pastors has been nominated by it for the 32 county Pride of Place Awards in the category of Community Wellbeing Initiative. The Awards event takes place in November and this year will be held in Cork City Hall. It is sponsored by Irish Public Bodies Insurance in association with Co-operation Ireland. We will be looked into and visited by the judging committee who will gather information about how we operate, our relationships with the public, the city council, social action groups and others and the benefit we provide that contributes to community wellbeing.

The standards demanded by the judges are pretty high as one would expect, but nothing that I believe we are not doing on a regular basis in caring, listening and helping in our city community every week-end. I’ll let you know more details in due course, but it’s safe to say the clock has started !
